What to do if your Flitecell gets hot

If your Flitecell battery becomes hot to the touch during charging or after a ride, follow these steps immediately. Note: Some warmth after a ride or charge is normal. This guide applies when the battery is uncomfortably hot to the touch or shows any of the warning signs listed below.
We do expect at times your battery could reach temperatures between 50-70 degrees C. This can be normal depending on use case and ambient temperature. If unsure contact support@fliteboard.com

During Charging

  1. Unplug the charger from the battery straight away.
  2. Move the battery to a safe, open area away from flammable materials (grass, carpet, furniture).
  3. Do not leave it unattended , stay nearby until it has cooled.
  4. Allow it to cool completely, this may take 30–60 minutes.
  5. Do not attempt to recharge

After a Ride

  1. Remove the battery from the board if it feels hot to the touch.
  2. Place it on a hard, non-flammable surface, concrete or tile is ideal. Keep it away from your vehicle, home, or storage area.
  3. Allow it to cool in a well-ventilated area for at least 30–60 minutes before storing or charging.
  4. Do not store a hot battery in a bag, car, or enclosed space.

Warning Signs — Stop Use Immediately If You Notice:

  • Battery is hot to touch (not just warm)
  • Swelling or deformation of the casing
  • Unusual smell
  • Discolouration or residue around connectors

If the Battery Does Not Cool Down or Gets Hotter

If after 15–20 minutes the battery is still hot, continues to heat up, or you notice any swelling, smoke, or smell, treat it as an emergency:

  1. Do not touch or move it if it is too hot to handle or showing signs of smoke.
  2. Evacuate the area and keep others away.
  3. Call your local emergency services - inform them this is a lithium battery

When to Contact Us

If your battery has exhibited any of the warning signs above, or you just feel uncomfortable with the temperature range. do not attempt to use or charge it again. Contact Fliteboard support so we can arrange an inspection.
